Speech and Language Therapy

Through personalized sessions, our speech therapists address challenges such as speech delays, difficulties producing speech sounds, and difficulties understanding and expressing language. The goal is to empower our children to communicate effectively in their daily lives.

Our speech and language therapy, feeding therapy, and parent coaching services are provided by specialized licensed therapists with extensive experience working with children with a variety of challenges, including:

  • Articulation difficulties (pronunciation)

  • Childhood apraxia of speech

  • Language delays (late talkers)

  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication Users

  • Pragmatic language disorders

  • Reading comprehension disorders

  • Children with autism

  • Children with developmental delays

Feeding Therapy

Feeding therapy can help your child improve their eating patterns and behaviors by allowing them to learn how to eat and expand the variety of foods in their repertoire. Mealtime can be challenging for children with eating disorders, and a limited food inventory can impact their nutritional health. At Bloom Along Therapy, our feeding therapists are trained in therapeutic approaches such as the Beckman Oral Motor Approach and the Sequential Oral Sensory Approach (SOS). Our therapists can work closely with you to help your child develop the skills they need to make mealtimes more enjoyable and safe. Parents play an important role during mealtimes, which is why parent coaching is a key component of all our sessions.

Coaching for Parents

The goal of parent coaching is to help parents develop the tools they need to foster their child's development. Parents become active participants in their child's development while utilizing the research-based strategies they learn during coaching sessions. Through parent coaching, parents develop insight into how their child is developing, what their strengths are, and what areas may require additional support to help their child flourish. Parents learn how to stimulate areas of need at home through regular meetings in which a specialist teaches them strategies and then helps them implement them at home. With the help of our team, we monitor your child's progress together to identify which strategies work best for them. Parent coaching can help with:

  • Learning to support your child's communication development

  • Learning to support social skills

  • Helps improve daily routines

Augmentative
Communication (AAC)

Children with complex communication needs can benefit from the use of an Augmentative Communication (AAC) system. Through the use of augmentative communication, children with communication limitations can develop language skills. The use of AAC can also reduce frustration and improve behavioral problems in children with limited language. In addition to offering therapy to children who use AAC, we also provide training to parents and other professionals who interact with the child . If your child does not have an AAC system, we complete a detailed evaluation, taking into consideration your child's strengths and needs, to identify a system that will allow them to communicate functionally in their daily life.
